LTCAS has a small staff team who lead its own workstreams and provide services to members. The senior staff team and Board work closely with a range of teams within the Scottish Government linked to key policy workstreams across health and social care.
LTCAS is currently developing its strategic approach to involving volunteers in all areas of its work.
Ian Welsh
Chief Executive
Ian represents LTCAS at a high-level and works, with and reports to, the Board.
Kevin Geddes
Director of Self Management
Kevin supports the implementation of the Self Management Strategy for Scotland by:
- developing practice across all sectors
- capturing learning and feeding this into policy and practice
- identifying gaps in training and practice and working with the appropriate agencies to address this
Shelley Gray
Director of Policy and Campaigns
Shelley is responsible for development and leadership of policy and campaigns work including:
- parliamentary work
- joint working and influencing decision makers
- press and media
- gathering evidence bases
Veronica Harper
Head of Corporate Services
Veronica’s areas of responsibility are:
- HR/personnel
- finance
- developing and managing the Hub
- facilities and IT management
- business management
Justine Duncan
Events and Fundraising Officer
Justine organises events and develops an events programme to support the aims of LTCAS. She also secures sponsorship for LTCAS activities and raises funds to ensure the sustainability of LTCAS work
Nancy Greig
Network Development Officer
Nancy is the main contact person for LTCAS members and the wider network. Her responsibilities include:
- involving members in the work of LTCAS
- managing the membership database
- growing membership and supporting existing members and associates
- promoting LTCAS
Jen McCole
Grants Officer
Jen’s areas of work are:
- assess and make recommendations on applications received to the Self Management Fund
- monitor and evaluate grants awarded from this programme together with the Director of Self Management
- maintain good working relationships with those funded and provide advice and support to them
- work with the director of self management to raise awareness of the Self Management agenda
Amanda Platt
Macmillan Lymphoedema Project Manager
Amanda is responsible for development
and project management of a National Lymphoedema Plan for Scotland. Her work includes
- Project planning and management
- Collaboration, negotiation and liaison with partners
- Development of the Lymphoedema National Plan for Scotland
- Project monitoring, alignment, and maintenance
- Implementation of the National Plan
Linda McGlynn
SMC Public Involvement Officer
Linda’s post is funded by the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) with support from the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industries (ABPI). Her responsibilities include:
- increasing awareness of the SMC and its role amongst patient interest groups
- working to reduce barriers to patient and public involvement with SMC
- providing support to patient interest groups making submissions to SMC
Hazel Robinson
Walking Development Officer
Hazel’s role is to develop and deliver the LTCAS/Paths for All joint projects ‘Walking Towards Better Health’ to promote walking for people living with all long term conditions.
Hazel provides support and advice to LTCAS members on how to develop walking groups, including support with training and funding. Hazel is currently in the process of developing and delivering innovative ways of promoting walking for people living with all long term conditions.
Louise Wanczycki
Assistant Policy and Campaigns Officer
Louise supports LTCAS’ policy and campaigns work. Her responsibilities include:
- Gathering information and evidence to inform briefings, consultation responses and campaigns
- Drafting policy briefings, reports and consultation responses
- Supporting policy and campaigns events
Margaret Barclay
Development Co-ordinator For Children, Young People & Families
Margaret’s work over the last 8 years has been with children, young people and their families in helping to raise awareness of the emotional impact that having a long term condition can have on the young person and their family. Margaret has delivered training to professionals on this subject and has also worked at policy level helping to influence government legislation.

Susan is responsible for:
- administration
- office management and management of the Hub
- financial record keeping
- HR and facilities support
- events support
Kerry Ritchie
Administrator
Kerry provides administration support for:
- the Hub room bookings
- the membership database
Susan Brooks
PA to Chief Executive and Directors
Susan provides administrative support to the senior staff as well as reception duties.
Ruth Michie
Office Assistant
Ruth provides general administrative support and services the meeting rooms.
